Obviously this is not the best part of town, and the restaurant has seen better days, in fact it is more than a little seedy - making this a take out spot for most folks! This is not the very best fried chicken in the Winston area (for that I would suggest Clemmons Kitchen), but it is solid, and is not the least bit expensive. My 2 piece dark meat with 2 sides and a small dinner roll came to $6.14 - that's a definite value meal at a time when many fast food chains are introducing "meal deals". As I said this was solid chicken - well breaded, nicely fried, moist and tender. The pintos were good, well seasoned, while the mashed potatoes and gravy were just ok. Doubt I'd come here again, but I'd stop by the University Pkwy location for a quick, inexpensive lunch or snack!
That's some good fried chicken the white people know they can fry some chicken and I'm from New York. this chicken ain't got a bunch of sauces. It's just plain fried and delicious. The wedges are good too.
My friend and I came to Mountain Fired on a fluke and man was it a good one. This is my first time eating at the Akron Drive location and it is now my favorite. We were there on a Sunday evening closer to the end of the night but the food was still fresh. Their portions are very generous and filling. Try the Mac-n-cheese that is nothing like any you've seen before. All of their boneless chicken is fresh made to order so if you want tenders or boneless wings it will take a few extra minutes. The staff gave us a few extras for the road since it was closing time and that team had the best attitude. It is located in an old Hardee's restaurant that could use some updates but it was clean and secure. Very family friendly
Absolutely amazing fried chicken at a great price! The employees were friendly and fast. Everything the tried was well seasoned, fresh, and oh so yummy! The portions were very generous. The potato wedges are the best I've ever had. If you don't care about ambiance, and just want delicious, affordable food, then Mountain Fried Chicken is THE place.
